Moyoco Anno, known for her sensual and emotional manga stories like Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen and Sakuran, is holding her first large scale exhibition at the Mitsubishi Estate art gallery in Fukuoka next month. The exhibition is titled “Moyoco Anno Exhibition STRIP! PORTFOLIO 1996-2016″ and chronicles her various works from the last decade.

The event will expand on Anno’s previous exhibition held in Ikebukuro in 2016. Approximately 250 works will be on display, including manuscripts from the latter half of Sakuran will be on display. Anno herself will hold a talk at the gallery on June 29 followed by an autograph session.



Anno released her artbook Moyoco Anno STRIP! in 2016. Her manga Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, a story about sex workers in turn-of-the-century France, ended in March. Crunchyroll released the series digitally and it also inspired an episode of Japan Animator Expo. Her other works include the currently ongoing The Diary of Ochibi-san manga, the Insufficient Direction autobiographical manga about her life with her husband and director Hideaki Anno, Hataraki Man, Sugar Sugar Rune, In Clothes Called Fat, Happy Mania, and Buffalo 5 Girls .
